This article talked about how life would be simulated on Mars. It is written like a summary of a journal about what has happened on one of the adventure's journey. He has done other extreme camping trips and exhibitions; however, none of them are like trying to survive on sMars. Sunlight and water are a blessing to be held and taken as resources when present. Everyone has to be self-sufficient yet dependent on each other at the same time. A person has to be a mechanical engineer, doctor, and chef when needed. The lack of hyper-advance technology created the sense that there is more to care for and find usefulness in than something to distract or escape their reality.
This article was confusing at first. I did not interpret that the person talking about sMars was actually on Earth in a survival simulation of the planet Mars until he broke the four wall about The Martian and saying that his planet is my planet. The author was, in my opinion, too wordy in trying to give the sense of how his and his crew mates' lives were during that time. It is an interesting perspective to imagine how someone like me could try to survive in a world where technology, like the Internet, is nonexistent and I must find ways to survive by bacteria and such. I imagine that I would only thrive for a few months before going rabid.
